idling problems on 1969 302 v8 Here are the facts. 1969 302 v8 bored to 306, Comp Cam XE256H, standard replacement pistons, moly coated iron rings, Weiand stealth dual plane hi rise manifold, holley 4150--570cfm carburetor, mechancial distributor with petronix module replacing points, hedman shorty headers. Holley was put on out of box without any adjustments.
Engine starts without a problem, Cannot get it to idle. As idle adjustment screw is backed out, vacuum drops.
Vacuum reading around 15 steady at 1800 rpm, dies when put into gear.
Had degreeing done at professional shop and preload set according to standards. All vacuum ports pluged for testing except to distributor and PVC. All vacuum fittings sealed properly.
Is there a vacuum leak or a tuning problem with carburetor?
Many thanks for your thoughts. |
