Default Shelby-style Exhaust

Hi!

One of the Mustang parts suppliers (I believe it's K.A.R.) offers a Shelby-style dual exhaust which exits just in front of the rear wheels. Has anyone tried this? If so, what did you think of it (fit, look tone etc.). They also offer a dual exhaust with twin Flowmasters---has anyone tried this? If so, what did you think?

Thanks!
/s/ Chris Kennedy

Hello. That would be the exhaust on the 65 GT-350s. I had that on a K code that I used to have and have heard it on a few 65 Shelbys, and it sounds great. It isn't really as loud as one might suppose. It's loud, but not all THAT loud. I love it.

Jay Leno has a video on his website of his 65 GT350, it has the original side exhaust, sounds pretty loud to me, which is awesome!

We have them on the 66.
Tri Y headers into 2 1/4 inch pipes, H pipe into Cherry Bomb mufflers and out on the side.
It sounds really good and is not really loud. You tend to "feel" the car pull up rather than hearing it.
The H pipes from the headers to the mufflers was not a real good fit and I had the muffler shop make a new one for the drivers side because it was too low to the ground.

Thanks! One thing I also like about them is how clean and simple they are. Incidentally, which springs are you using on the back---are these 4 1/2 leafs??

They are 4 1/2 mid eyes from M+ and I have the 620 on the front. Car sits pretty level but I think I am going to cut 1/3 coil off the front.

The folks at the exhaust shop I use warned me about side exhaust. They feel like there is a good chance exhaust would be pulled back into the car at the rear windows.

Be careful.

Interesting--- I hadn't thought of that, but will now.

Thanks!

I do not smell any exhaust and they exit behind the rear windows. If your moving, all the exhaust is behind you. If your stuck in traffic, there is nothing you can do about the guy in front of you or beside you.

Hmmm, just to play devils advocate, doesnt a muffler shop charge more money for a rear exit exhaust sytem with all the bends, hangers and installation?
