The other day I lightly applied the e-brake (not too many clicks down), and when I went to release it it didn't release as easily as I thought it should. I got nervous after reading a post here where someone had broken their release when pulling it.

Keeping in mind that this brake hasn't been used in many many years, is there something I can do to make it work a little smoother so as to reduce the chance of breaking it?

get a can of spray white grease. spray all the parts and mash and release a couple of times. if it acts like it does not want to release, push down on pedal a little before pulling handle.

Doesn't hurt to lube the areas of the cable where it enters the sheath either. One location at the parking brake pedal and two at each rear wheel.

Is the parking brake cable supposed to be completely sheathed between the parking brake and the rear drum brakes? Because mine isn't (pictures attached).

So it is really supposed to rub on the bottom of the car like that...from the factory?

Ok, found a place where the release is rubbing a bit on part of the vent actuator. If I make sure it doesn't touch that then it's smooth as butter.

Still seams strange the way the cable rubs on the bottom of the car.
