Default Anyone have problems with new Holleys?

I was down to my local speed shop the other day looking into carburetors (they deal in Edelbrocks and Holleys) and the first ones I asked them about were Holleys. They then directed me to the corner behind the counter and on the floor were 6 new Holleys of various types out of the boxes: ALL OF THEM RETURNS! Those were just returns from the last couple of weeks alone.

The shop said that there have been a few bad batches the last while and they have had to send quite a few back to Holley.

Anyways, I am just wondering if any other groups or individuals been having issues with Holleys bought in the last few months?

the biggest proplem with a new holley is they require attention! and most new holley owners don't know how to PLAY with them. so they become DEFECTIVE. if you start by putting a new fuel filter on before new carb that will be 75% of all problems. i started playing with holleys probably 35 years ago. they are just like a woman, you just have to know how to work them....

That's not just new Holleys. Holleys have always needed lots of attention since they first started.

But these ones are having major parts faults. I was actually asking them about the tuning things because I know all about Holleys but it's all old guys bringing them in, people who would know about Holleys. The shop said the have never seen anything like this before, the amount of returns.

what could be made defective in a holley if all the parts are still cast the same way as it ever been? i don't think they come defective.i am sure that is the people that don't know how to deal with them. not even all the so called mechanics know.it take time, patience and money to learn.

All I ever use is Holley. I went to buy a new one about a year ago and took it right back! It was one of the new non adjusting float carbs DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL! Put a trick rebuild kit in my old holley doing just fine wouldn't trade it for nothing.

It was a headscratch for me too. I would think it was people's error if it had been happening all along but this has just been the last few months or so and a fairly large amount of returns. To go from 1 or 2 a year to more then a dozen in the snap of a figure? That's what I found funny.

I was in last fall just sniffing around and they were really pushing the Holleys big time. I know the guys there quite well and the owner's brother. These guys are good and know their stuff. What they are telling me is that most or all of the guts are being made in China and I guess they are going to crap quick. But who knows. I just figured I would ask people outside of my little corner of the world.

the new Holleys are plug& play, with a little tuning, just like the Edelbrocks.I just picked up a new 675CFM for my 302...........made a world of difference. The main problem, is someone buys a new Holley, tries to tune it, ruins it& returns it.

If this is the issue than has it happened all of a sudden and increase by such a high percentage? Wouldn't it have been going on for a while??
