the holes have to be reemed larger, then bushings pressed in. they normally have to be pretty bad to effect running.

Definitely sounds like something I don't want to try and do.

I'll try to test it tonight.

i wasnt sure on that myself. I just figured my carb needed a rebuild since its the original carb, and i didnt want to mess around with rebuilding a 2V so i went and got a nice new edelbrock 4V @ NAPA.

The problems I'm having are post-rebuild. And didn't occure the first few times I drove it. I wouldn't be surprised if its the one part of the carb that wasn't rebuilt (rebuild kit doesn't touch that part of the carb--too easy to mess it up).

I am a rookie, but I had a similar problem and a friend helped me solve it by re-routing some vacuum lines that weren't where they were supposed to be.. we rerouted some and capped a few off... we did nothing else to the engine. the hesitation when you first put the pedal to the floor went away.

Ok, so I sprayed some carb cleaner around the carburetor without having the filter removed. When I sprayed on the passenger side I noticed a very slight drop in rpm's. So I took the cleaner off and sprayed some more, nothing. Couldn't get it to do anything else after that.

I don't know...maybe it is just a vacuum leak somewhere. Or perhaps something to do with the choke, as Joe and stang93mustang mentioned. I just don't know enough about carburetors to accurately diagnose it. It does seem like the choke may be a little sticky.

You sure that carb is built right? Umm so when you rev it spaces out? Check spark plugs and wires.

Yeah, I was very very particular about the carb. Multiple instructions, Many many pictures and conversations to ensure it was all done properly.

It only hesitates under a load, not while revving it while parked.

I haven't raised the idle. It was at about 800 I believe. Of course I can feel it wanting to hesitate occasionally while driving, so I'm not sure if the idle would fix it.

"Goat rope?" Not sure that I'm familiar with that particular phrase. Sounds pretty dang funny though.

Not yet. I have to borrow a timing light to do that. And the guy I borrow it from borrows it from his brother. Should have also listed that above as my third option for a potential problem.

Yeah its something my family has said forever, must be a southern thing idk...it has multiple uses, pain in the ass, not worth the time....the list goes on.

Alright, I advanced the timing a few degrees and it's still hesitating. I didn't notice it if I punch it hard, but otherwise it still does it. I've also only taken it a short distance. But I'm confident the trip is representative of how it will continue to act until the problem is determined.

Thoughts?
