Default rust after sanding

When I first stared restoring my car, the first thing I did was take the doors, hood, trunk lid ect... off of the car.Afterwards I started sanding the car to the metal. I am about halfway through that and the first part I sanded is starting to rust. I knew this would happen so is there anything I can put on the car to prevent the rust until I get it all sanded and ready to be primered

Metal Ready from POR-15 etches the metal and coats it with a layer of zinc phosphate that should work

You can always use sandable primer on it after you finish a section.

Hello,
You can get Metal Ready or similar product at auto body supply shops.
I am not sure if Auto Zone carries it. I have a body shop supply house near to me so that is where I get mine.
I use a spray can. It goes on clear and turns black. There are many such products.
Just follow the directions. Some do smell quite a bit so use good ventillation.
if you are only doing portions at a time, I think you will be fine.
However, read and follow all safety precautions listed on the product.

As mentioned, you can also prime the area after sanding. You should at least do that because you are exposing the sanded areas to the elements.

Good Luck.. Print Dad
