Default 1966 Mustang convertible interior question

In the backseat there are two covered panels, one on each side, that have the ash trays. How are they removed? It looks to me like you have to take the backseat and side panels off to get them off. Don't want to mess up more than already is. Where do I start?

You do need to remove the back seat to take the interior qrt panels out without damaging them. The back seat is simple just push back on and lift the bottom section of the seat and it will pop right off. The seat back is held on with a few bolts and lifts off. The You will also need to remove the rear qtr window cranks and the screws holding the panels to the body.

On my '67, the verticle part of the convertible back seat is bolted in two places at the bottom and just sits in brackets at the top. The bottom part just pops out by fitting your fingers under the front edge and lifting.

After removing the seat parts, you can unscrew the panel screw(s) and remove the window crank handle to remove the panel.
