Question 65 smokin a bit when hot?

Looks like Im gonna have to gt rid of my 95 GT Vert (it in the classifieds section if u want a nice daily driver) and put the 65 Coupe back on the road...bummer, but times are tough!

Been probably a year or so since I drove the 65 for any length of time and I noticed something kinda weird, seems to blow a little white smoke after it gets up to temp and idles for a few minutes. Is this anything to panic about? Doesn't seem to keep doing it but I'm gonna change the oil and see if it helps...rings go bad? seals on the valves?

Any suggestions GREATLY appreciated!

Default 65 smokin a bit when hot?

Hello bswhee65,
White smoke could be a sign of water in the heads caused by a blown or leaky head gasket. Look for foam or milk shake look on the dip stick.

BUT
It is probably more likely due to sitting she has condensation in the exhaust.
You don't say how long the white smoke lasts or how long you have driven the car.
It never hurts to change the oil and filter.
If you had bad rings or valves the smoke would more likely be bluish. I wouldn't be too worried just yet.

Change the oil and keep an eye on the temp gauge etc. Often times after sitting the
car needs to get going again. Seals will swell and work better things of this nature. Try a few tanks of gas. Could check the PVC valve (shake and see if it is loose).
Make sure radiator full. Drive the car and keep an eye on things but don't be worried at least not yet.

Just my thoughts from an old back-yard mechanic Print Dad
