Default V-6 EcoBoost engine in vintage Mustang

Has anyone thought about skipping over the 5.0L and 4.6L V-8 engines and installing Ford's new EcoBoost V-6 engine in a vintage 65-66 Mustang?

I know it's been talked about on some of the Ranger sites. I'm sure it's going to be the next hot swap motor. 60 deg configuration, alum block, 100 hp per liter in stock form. Hotest Ford productoin motor per displacement ever made? Like to see some size/dimensions.

I'm sure someone will do it but I doubt it will be a popular swap because the V6 sounds like ****.

I'm sure some might think about it. I wouldn't, though. I drive cars like this for simplicity; if I wanted to deal with the complexity of modern cars, I'd still be driving my SVT Focus or prancing around in a 94-95 5,0 droptop or something.

Having said that, I don't think the V6 idea will catch on in Mustangs. I am one of the few who appreciates 6-bangers (though I like straight sixes, not V6's), but most Mustangers aren't really into going through the cost of such a swap just to have a V6 in place - it's a psychological thing.

I don't get the whole "could have had a V8" thing, if it is faster, lighter, and gets better mileage why not...I drive a 1275cc Mini Cooper everyday and that car has no issues keeping up in traffic, and it will stick with cars on the curves that have big V8’s. I guess if you need to have your car be an extension of your manhood the V8 only thing make sense, however, if that’s not enough you should get out an buy a 6.8 V10 from a F250 and slam it the front of your car. I mean if the V8 is great, then the v10 (lump) must be better. My 1984 Mustang Turbo GT was tuned to over 300hp and still got almost 30 MPG highway, and the best part about it, it could go around corners, unlike most of the 5.0 foxes on the road.

It was like the time I was I buying a new Vespa GT60 a few years back (the anniversary special edition 250cc water cooled Vespa, it was cool) some big dumb biker walks in looks at the bikes on the showroom floor of the Vespa dealer and he yells “Loud pipes save lives” and then walks out gets his Harley and proceeds to rev it in front of the dealer… WTF

By the way I have an owned a number of small and big block cars, and currently in my garage a 1275cc Mini and a big Harley V-Twin with more displacement in two cylinders then the Mini has in four. One is not better then the other, they are just different. I have owned more types of cars then I can even remember from Turbocharged four and six cylinders, to FE big block V8’s, to odd ball stuff like V4 Ford powered Saabs. They all have there pros and cons, and they are all cool.

I would wait about 5 years let them work the bugs out before id even think of owning one.I'm more of a v8 guy don't care about mpg and a turbo is nice but robs any good exhaust tone you'll get.Only odd swap i would do be a ls6 or ls7 i know a gm engine in a ford but there cheap for what you get and no bigger then a 351 is.
