Default 1973 Mach 1, 351C, 4V, Transmission ID

Can anyone tell me how to determine what transmission is in my Mach 1. There is no plate on the door anymore. There is one up front by the headlight however, I am not sure what the letters and numbers mean. I have looked at the transmission and supposedly there is supposed to be a tag but no tag exists there. I am assuming it is a c6 but I would like change the filter and fluid. Want to make sure I get the right components. Thanks. Thom

My Dad's '73 Q-code Mach had a C6, so I assume yours is the same.

Best thing to do is drop the pan and take it with you to the auto parts store. They came with 4 different trannys. The C4 (w), C6 (u), C6 special (z) and the FMX (x). The letters are the tranny code.

If there is a label it will be the 12th digit.

Default Numbers

I found some numbers on the trans. On the left side I found:
D (or O) 30p7006 BA

The other side was RF D10P 7D027-AA

Does this make any more sense to anyone? Thanks for your help.
