Default 1969 Mustang Coupe Transmission Problem

Hey guys. Just got my car running again (thanks to Print Dad on this forum), and trying to work out some issues. Here's what's going on...

1969 Mustang / 351 Cleveland (dropped in) / Automatic Transmission

The gear shifter inside the car is all weird. When I shift into Reverse, the gear shifter is a little past "R" on the thing. Neutral is really wide. It goes from a little past "R" all the way into "D." When I'm in drive, the shifter looks like it is on "2." I can't even get into the low gear "1." What gives?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, guys.

Sounds like you need to adjust your linkage. I'm assuming you have a C4? It's really easy, just get under your car and you'll see it. Just loosen the nut on the end of the linkage that's below the shifter and slide it up or down. Play with it a bit.

It won't hurt anything to just "play with it?" I am not experienced with transmissions or engines and such.
