Hey everyone,

As most of you know i am trying to build up my little 289 a bit. I want to thank you all for your input on parts and explanations on how the cam works. It all has been greatly appreciated. Also for thoe who have been following my threads or been helping me out, i am trying to do that as "old school" as possible. My question to you all is this. Im only 25 so i wasnt around in the 60s, so can anyone tell me what was popular for these early mustangs?

Like the "Cobra Powered by Ford" valve covers. Was that a Shelby only option? Where there such things as shock tower braces and monti carlo bars or is that something that has come out later. Was there aftermarket parts then like there is today? Like different colored wires or should they be black, valve covers, air cleaners, etc. Should everything stay blue or was there any popular dress up items? What about Performance wise? What where popular performance upgrades back in the 60's?

I want someone to look at this car and say "Was this thing in a time capsule? This is exactly how it was done in '66" Im just trying to do what others dont. I had toyed with the idea of doing a 350 clone but you just dont see any "nostalgia" builds. I always see Torque Thrust wheels and flowmaster exhaust, Shelby hoods and 289s replaced by built up 302s. But ide like to bring back the old school, even if its not as fast, i want to do it just for "the good old days" sake. As always, any info will be and is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have tryed to keep mine as original as possible.
It is basically stock with a few aftermarket parts that would have been available in that error. The tires would be the only exception. I havent bothered with performance modifications as it has all drum brakes & manual steering.
