Need some help identifying a rearend..

I figured you guys would be the ones to ask.. i got a rearend pretty sure its an 8" looks like my 9" in my cougar, but smaller axle housings. Want to buy a spool for it but i dont want the wrong one.. any suggestions on how to tell? INPUT would be awesome.. thanks guys..

If you can use a socket to remove the bottom nut under the pinion, it's an 8", on the 9" you have to use a wrench, the socket won't clear. The 8" is also more oval shaped than a 9".
