Question Electric fan fix my prob?

Ima hoping this fixes the problem, 289, 4 core Rad, stock fan no clutch or shroud, Vintage Air A/C. Cars runs nice and cool with A/C off and a lil warmer with the A/C on and cruising down the road but as soon as I have to slow down or sit in traffic in 100+ weather in Dallas the temp creeps up to the point it starts blowing blue white smoke.

Went to Dallas Mustang...complete waste of time and energy...clueless, and their solution was to get on Summit Racings website and search for fans...lovely.

One call to Summit Racing...they knew exactly what I needed (15" Fan, 2.625" deep, adjustable thermostat and mounting kit), cheaper and will have it here tomorrow...now I know!

Anybody else had a similar prob and did an electric fan solve it?

Also plan on thinning out the coolant ratio and adding water wetter as suggested by a ton of folks on here.

Thanks ya'll

Scott

The electric fan will definitely help. The problem is that you don't have a shroud more than anything. The only cooling you were getting was from the air going through the radiator at speed. A stock fan is useless without a shroud.

+1. Try a shroud first. It worked for me.

I had excellent results mounting an electric fan inside my shroud, 100* here in Bama and not even going past 1/2 way (measured to be 205* using a 195* thermostat) Did you get the fan control from summit as well? they have a nice one with a built in soft start that does not kill the engine and radio from the amperage spike. its about 80 bucks. I would have chosen a larger fan though but try mounting it in the shroud because you are only cooling the area of the radiator core ducted around the fan blades or it might just be easier to try it and see what happens, you'll know in short order, keep these factors in mind though. Good luck man!
