So after completing the engine work on my 1965 Mustang 200ci, I went to take the car out for a test drive only to find that the only gear I have is reverse. After running the car for a while and flooring it while in drive throughout all the gears, smoke began pouring out from the tranny fluid dipstick. Does this mean it needs a rebuild? Or is there something else I can do to get it going?

did u check the passing gear on the transmission wen was replacing my carb i accidently messed with it n wen i wanted to move the car all the worked was reverse... just a suggestion
