Default 66 Mustang brake popping noise HELP!

First off, the car: 66 coupe, 289 4bbl w/ factory front disc brakes - complete new front brakes 2 years ago, including new rotors. New double-tub MC 1 month ago. Complete new suspension last year.

The noise started ions ago, and I would only notice hear it once in a blue moon. Now - even after the new brakes & suspension - I hear it every time I stop. Car stops straight & quick, no pulling, pulsating or vibration at all. The mechanic that installed the MC for me cannot find anything weird at all, and everything works great. It's just this NOISE...

The NOISE: During braking as you're coming to a stop, when the weight is starting to transfer to the rear (letting up on the brake), there is a distinct "pop" and "creak" noise from the DS front wheel. Same when you let off the brake. It's only the DS, and cannot be replicated by shoving & pushing the car, testing the suspension.

I know nothing about brakes, really, but could it be a bad cylinder? Would the car stop true if a cylinder WAS or going bad? Anything to look for when looking at the brake system??

DO you have a booster on the MC?

It sounds like a loose caliper to me though. Push and shove the car (fowards and reverse)with someone inside pressing the brakes down (engine off) and see if you can isolate the sound more thoroughly.

Yeah it could be a loose caliper or something with the shock or spring seat. Have thousands of lbs of cars pushing on something is way differnt then a 180lb guy rocking it.

Haven't been able to get a sound clip yet, but several guys were listening to it yesterday & thought it sounds like a sticking caliper. Can you "grease" these up?
