Default Drilling holes for fender 289 emblems

Good Morning! I bought 289 emblems for my fenders. Where is the correct place to hang them? Is there a template or measurements for the correct location?
I haven't done much body work. How do I drill with out chipping or messing up the paint job? Do I start with with a pilot hole and drill at slow rpms? Any tips and advice would be great. Thanks!

Mustang Monthly has a two-part article on the correct placement of letters and badges for 65-68 Mustangs.

Hope this helps.

I have a badge missing also and I asked a friend who restores Mustangs how to put it on. He suggested usin double sided tape. According to him there are double sided tapes that work better than drilling. It might be a better option than drilling into your paint job

I read on another sight the same suggestion by someone for a 2003. He said to use a 3M auto tape. I'm game if it is just as good or better.
