Default 1967 Mustang coupe 289 break-in

How many miles on a new rebuild before its considered broke-in.
Also what about oil changes. It was suggested to me to change the oil at 100 miles at 500 and 1000 and 1500 and thats the break -in, after that routine maintaince.
Thanks

Here's a good start:

You didn't mention if you have a hyd. flat tappet or roller cam.

I think 4 oil changes w/in 1500mi. is a bit excessive. The first oil change after initial break in (20min. @ 2000 - 2500 RPM) is just to get all the break in lubricant and any trash out. The next oil change should be between 500-1000mi. from what I've read then regular 3500 after that you can go dino or synthetic.

Thanks Jon I thought it sounded excessive. I have a hyd flat tappet cam. I have around 600 miles on the rebuild can I go with synthetic rotella. Also when or how many miles is a engine considered broke-in. The cam break in procedure was followed and fresh oil added.
