Default 1966 Mustang Radiator? Straight 6 Auto 3 Speed

Hello all, and welcome to my first 'post'
So, i have recently driven my new Mustang home, all the way from the south of France, to the not so sunny UK, some 850 miles! No better way to get to know a car i assure you!
She has a few niggles and faults, but still a gorgeous drive, and the right 'look'
The first thing I want to sort is the 'slight' overheating issue....
Seems she has had a hard life, and as a result the heater matrix (or core) has been disconnected, witht he hoses left dangling and a passthrough pipe..... I guess this isn't doing the best cooling, reducing the size of the system?
Also, the original radiator was blocked, so has some off 4x4 rad in, which looks a little small to me!
What does everyone think to this? A good replacement?

Also, i don't think she has the right oil in, i think the previous owner has used full synthetic, and I am assuming it should be 'mineral'? Any oil recommendations for the Straight Six?
Any help will be gratefully received!
I have the 'Collins' manual, is this the best for home restoration?
My 'history' is with MK1 Cortina's..... Mustang is surprisingly similar!
Look forward to hearing from you all.....
Christopher

I am looking at buying this rad and fan for my 65 200cid. Not sure what the shipping charges would be to the UK.

Thankyou for the Rad suggestion...... have contacted them, and it's $95 shipping, so, the 2 prices compined are still way cheeper than what I have been quoted for one off the shelf here, so thankyou ever so much!
OK, so, next question, what oil ought I be using, and is it just standard ATF fluid in the gearbox?
Also, the hoses that come from the heater core, does the top one go to the right (thermostat housing) and the bottom to the left (water pump)?
Thankyou again,
Christopher

Another thing... make sure the lower rad hose has the spring in it. Mine was missing and after installing it the temp gauge went from normally being @ 3/4 max to 1/4 max. An easy way to check is to squeeze the lower hose, if you can the spring is missing.

wrt to oil... I have seen both opinions..... the only thing I see that is consistent is to use a zinc replacement.... Search for "zinc oil" in your internet search engine of choice....

Well, the Rad is on it's way, and thankyou for the tip on the spring, I'll let you know how I get on
Another quick question if I may..... when cold, the C4 auto doesn't always instantly select?!?!?!
If you select drive, it will sit there, then rev the engine, and on the downward rev, it will select, and off you go.... once you've been into 3rd a couple of times, it's fine for the rest of the drive.
Any ideas? How does the box 'know' to select, is it vacuum, electronic? What might have failed?
