Need to ID a motor, was told it is a 289

need to id an engine. i have the following on a sticker on the right side valve cover:

HG352BA; C - 54K; R - 9; S - 21....

could not find (or see) any numbers stamped on the block above the starter, or anywhere. it is not the original motor to the car so the v.i.n. doesn't help any. the drivers side valve cover has a sticker the says "engine family 302". i was told its a 289. thanks for any help you can offer.
