Default Shelby Drop Drill

I was wondering if there was a certain drill i needed to do the UCA drop. I have the drill bit, but i was just wondering if there was a certain drill i needed. I am stocking up on all my tools, and want to make sure i buy a good drill.

Thanks

All it takes is a regular 1/2' chuck drill motor. If you're looking for quality go with Milwakee.

The drill bit you need to use should be a sheet metal bit. A common drill bit will not drill a round hole and will leave a lot of burrs and flared edges.

use a sheet metal bit ( buy one on line for the size you need 1/2') and then use a 5/8" or 3/4' countersink to remove the small burrs that are left.

Your other option would be to use a step drill. You can get those at most any Harbor Freight tool supply.

Just dont use a standard drill bit, you will have a mess.

Default The manual calls for a 17/32" drill bit

The manual calls for a 17/32" drill bit - a bit hard to find and pricey - you can get a good one here -
DazeCars, For Sale Page

I used a good 1/2" bit (and know several others who have) on the UCA drop with no problem - You can pick up a decent 1/2" bit for metal at Home Depot, Lowes, or any good hardware store.

Drill the hole in steps of 1/4" for best results or use a finish reamer to go from 15/32" to 1/2".
