Question 1965 Mustang-Proper radiator cap to use with....

....a coolant recovery system.

I made an earlier post, inquiring about a suitable coolant recovery system for my '65 Mustang. I was rewarded with links to nice trim cylindrical stainless systems at a very good price.

However, I cannot find any info on the proper radiator cap to use with the systems. I know they are not the same as a standard cap that you would use without the recovery system. Those caps will not allow the coolant to be sucked back into the radiator during cooldown.

What exactly should I use and what would it's blowoff PSI be? I googled this subject and looked on Summit for such a cap, to no avail.

I use a 16 psi cap. The replacements with the lever to bleed off pressure works fine.

Recovery systems require a special cap made for that kind of a system. A normal cap for a Mustang will push water into the overflow but never let any back into the radiator. Whoever sells the recovery system should give you an idea of what cap to use.

Just get a Stant 10229 part number cap, 13lbs and it works with overflow tank.

Seems to be a mystery as to what blow off pressure is OEM for the '65 289. I have a factory repair manual and it does not even say in the cooling system specs.

Additional to that, I can find no solid info on the differences between caps used with a coolant recovery system and those that aren't. Even the guy selling the coolant recovery systems on ebay does not seem to understand my question on the subject.
