Default 1966 Mustang V8 Fuel Line Routing Help!

Hey, trying to replace my fuel line from my tank to engine compartment with pre-bent. I know this should be straight forward, but the previous owner used a lot of short cuts and changed stuff, so I dont know how these are suposed to run. If anyone could post pictures of how they are suposted to run under the car from tank to engine that would be great.

1966 Mustang, 289/302, pre-bent steel fuel line routing.

Thanks Veronica! That deffinatly helps. 2 questions though.

1) Do you (or anyone) have a pic of how it runs in the rear by the gas tank and over/through/around the rear axle, shocks, and parking brake lines etc.

2) Is your car a 1966? Does 1966 fuel lines run on the outside of the frame rail and run into the engine compartment through the shock tower or does it just run from under the car directly up and into the engine compartment following the brake lines?

Thanks again!

Anyone know if the 1966 V8 Mustang fuel line routed through the shock tower? Anyone have any pictures of it? And any pics of how it is routed in the rear by the tank and rear axle? Thanks.

Hi again. It doesn't go through the shock tower. It goes through the lower part of the inner fender, across from the fuel pump. I'll try to find some pictures of the area around the gas tank.

Awesome, thanks Veronica! But now I am a little confused. I just replaced the fuel pump and on yours it looks like your fuel line from the tank is connected to the rear port on the pump, and the front port goes to your carb. On my fuel pump the rear port is threaded for the steel fuel line to carb where the front port has a fixed place to slide the rubber hose over. Is it possible that my fuel pump has the flow opposite of yours?

Some fuel pumps, by design, allow the base portion that contains the ports to be rotated to suit your placement needs. The ports on all of the designs should indicate the inlet and outlet. If you need to attach hose to a threaded port, all that you need is an adaptor fitting which some pumps have included. If not, the fitting is pretty easy to find at an auto parts store.

The fuel line on the 66 follows the brake line down the drive shaft tunnel. The routing was changed to just inside the driver's side rocker panel about mid model year 67. If you need to know the routing and placement of chassis components and fuel and brake lines, get a copy of the factory chassis assembly manual from a Mustang resto vendor for about $20. Each model year has it's own set of assembly manuals. There's a separate manual to cover the body, engine, electrical, interior and weld/sealant. The detailed diagrams and drawings will help you to eliminate the guess work. It did for me.
