Default 1966 Mustang 289 stock clutch fan size

Can anyone tell me the size of the stock clutch fan? Is it 16 or 17 inches? I want to get one of those flex type fans and wantto make sure i get the right size. Also, i have seen a fan shroud that was "wider" i guess you could say? It was 3" instead of teh stock 1 or 2". Ive even seen one that is 5". WHat is the purpose of the extra inches. They dont even look like they would fit.

The viscous clutch fan on my air conditioned '66 Dearborn coupe measures 17" in diameter. The shroud is 2" thick measured from its radiator mounting. A thicker shroud would extend behind the fan. I don't know what that would do except make it harder to fit.

Ah, 17" ok i wasnt sure if i was getting 16 or 17. Thank you. YEah i was wondering the same thing about the shroud. Maybe its to "tunnel" more air flow but i dont know how you fit a 3 to 5" shroud. Ive got a/c and p/s so im pretty tight as it is.
