Default Wheel area paint color question

I have my suspension all out of the car, except the steering column and the PS cylinder.

What colors are the brake drums, spindle and the plate which mounts to the spindle?

I would think the spindle and drum are natural metal and the plate should be black.

Thanks up front.

Car had worn out ball joins-- uppers, lowers, and tie rod ends. I still do not know how to evaluate the upper control arm bushing rods/arm shafts, they are not loose and do not squeak. Grease caps are still in place.

It was fun removing the springs, well not really!

You might try an internal spring compressor next time?

Yeah, I hear you.
I tried the kit from Harbor freight it was no good. It was two separate clamps that fit the exterior of the spring.

If it were mine, I would take apart the upper control arm shafts and do an inspection. if the UCA shaft holes aren't wallowed out, reuse the arms. For the cost, i would replace the shafts with available kits. About $70. Worth doing since it's all apart anyway and then you can have peace of mind about their condition.

Yes since it is apart, now is the time, I think the TRW made units are $40.00 at Virginia Classic.

It would suck to get it all together and need to replace them in 6 months!

Exactly. I am replacing my springs with the 620lb 1" lowering springs and am going to rebuild the UCA's and replace the spring perches while I'm at it. I won't have to worry about them after that.

The drivers side spring perch on my car had one of the ends openings trashed so the busing was setting on an angle.

YOU CAN REBUILD the UCA shaft????
(not the UCA itself)

Yea, a shaft kit. Check out Mustangs Plus.com. They have the kits for $26.95 each side along with alot of other suspension goodies you might want to check out. Mustang Parts from Mustangs Plus. Look under the suspension catagory in the list on the left side.
