Default Thermal Clutch Fan

I am considering fitting a Hayden Thermal Clutch Fan to my 65.
This is mainly to reduce the noise.
At present it has the std 5 blade with std radiator & shroud.
Questions:
Will I be able to use my current fan?
Will it be compatable with my current setup?
Does anyone know the Hayden part number, is it 2710?
I need to get this right as I can't locate one in this country & will have to import one.

Default The 2710 fan should work..........

Keith,
The 2710 fan should work - I think I used a 2711 since I needed some additional clearance (if you look at the Hayden Specification chart - http://beta.haydenauto.com/upload/Ha...fan-clutch.pdf ) I had to have the shorter "C" measurement with a newer engine.

I do not think your fan will work - the 4 blade fan was standard, if you have a 5 blade fan maybe you have some additional options on the engine?
I do not think the original fan works with a Thermal clutch unless your car came with a fan clutch. You will need a fan with the center mount cut out like one of these - (pic attached)

Also, do not use the application chart - use the spec chart I linked to above to make sure the dimensions are correct and you should be OK.

Thanks for that.
Shame about the fan though, cost me $200.

Default It could work, I just don't think so...

Keith,
It could work, I just don't think so - I had to get a different fan to add a clutch to mine.

I think I will go ahead & order one & if I have to get another fan as well, I may be able to sell mine. Be handy to know for sure so I could get both items sent together.
They seem to be around $35 just got to find somewhere that will deliver to NZ.

Default Yep, shipping is a bummer for you.....

I saw even Amazon.com sells these but only ships in U.S.

Do you have to find someone that uses FedEx? or DHL?

Amazon or eBay would be the best choice for my location, if they had any with international shipping. As you say there are none at the moment, but some will come up, I'll just keep watching.

Most of the 2710 units I see are for GM.
Are they different?
I have found a supplier in this country who has a couple but they are also for GM & he didn't seem to know anything about them. They are $83 NZ as well.

Default I would go by the chart measurements...

Keith,
I would go by the chart measurements in the link above (bolt circle, diameter, mount height, etc.), not necessarily by the Hayden application chart.

If you have a supplier there in country, you could at least return it if it didn't fit, right?

How much is $83NZ in US dollars? (pardon my ignorance)

At todays exchange rate that converts to $60.82 US.
The nearest supplier is 290 miles & he can't do a fan anyway.
I have emailed some other suppliers but havent had any positive results yet. Most want to sell me an electric setup.
Fortunately I'm in no hurry as the existing system is functioning quite adequitately.
