I am in the process of swapping an inline 6 to a v8 289 on my 1966 Mustang. I have a parts car that I'm using to take all the necessary items to add to my economy 1966 Mustang. My uncles and I are working on the swap and we ran into a question on the steering linkage. While my economy 1966 Mustang has the frame pressed for the steering linkage bracket to fit into on the driver's side wheel frame it does not have the nuts welded into the frame like the v8 289 1966 Mustang does. We were thinking about spot welding the bracket to the frame since we can't get nuts inside the frame without having to weld the frame back together. Has anyone else run into this problem? If so what did you do or what would you do? I have been told by a body shop that I might be able to order zert nuts that will screw in and expand that we can secure the bracket into. I need advice please.
Many Thanks
