Default 3-Speed Manual to c-4 auto. Swap

Hello, this is my first post, I bought a 68 Stang for the wife, it has a 3-speed manual, she wants an auto. Winter right around the corner, no better time than now for the swap. My question is, I have never done one before, can someone give me some advice on this. Do I have to change or alter the driveshaft, crossmember or anything else. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

A C4 should bolt in - you will have an extra pedal unles you remove it.

It should all work - unless the transmission wasn't stock....

It should be a direct fit in but things you may have to add are

Kickdown rod/cable so the transmissionwill downshift when u get on it.

Different brake pedal? you may be able to just get a longer pad that goes on the front or you could keep the same pedal if ur wife doesn't mind.

transmission cooler or a radiator that has cooling lines (your current radiator may or maynot have cooling lines for the transmission located at the bottom. If it does they would be plugged right now they are very easy to tell as they are located next to the drain plug.

Im not sure but you may need to run a vacuum line from the tranny to the intake idk mine has one but that should be fairly easy.

there may be more minor things but thats all i can come up with. As long as you have a 302 bellhousing that goes with it It should match up and work just fine.

The driveshaft should fit fine as long as it was a toploader 3 speed. You are going to need the vacume line, kickdown, and tranny cooler as was previously stated.

Welcome to the site and good luck with your swap. If you hit any snags dont be afraid to ask around on here.

Just be sure to use the bell housing for the 200 - there come off with 7 bolts that also hold the pump on. If the pump is desturbed you might run into other issues so be careful.
