Default Anyone used a points conversion kit?

Found "points eliminator conversion kits",Accel,Pertronix are 2 companies that make them, and was wondering if anyone had tried them?
Sounds like a good alternative to putting in a full electronic ignition especially the price.Maybe a little to good?
Thanks for any info.

Most people on this forum have done the pertronix and such conversions and are happy with it. Im going for full out msd ignition, although this is worse on the budget, it is the better setup. You get what you pay for but its definatly good if your not going to spend hundreds on ignition parts. I say go for it

I've used the original Pertronix I, and never had any problem with it. I think that Pertronix was one of the first, if not the first to offer a conversion.

I saw an add for a new Pertronix III. It says that it has a built-in rev limiter, delivers multi-spark through the entire RPM range and adaptive dwell for increased spark energy. The whole thing fits under the dist cap. Sounds impressive to me. You may want to check their web site.

I have Petronix Ignitor 1 and pertronix flamethrower spark plug wires and I have never had any problems. My car starts up first try. The only thing I haven't done is I still have my original ignition coil instead of Pertronix's flamethrower coil. I heard that too many people were having problems with the studs breaking off the top.

Well, I thank you all for the replies,I do believe that will be the route I'll go.
At this point I just didnt want to get into changing over to a whole different ignition system.

Be sure to use the Pertronix II. It incorporates burn out protection in the event you leave your ignition key turned on by accident.

I installed one, along with the coil, on my '65 Mustang. It now starts up, after long periods of being idle, much more quickly and smoothly.

Something that I will do when I get a spare distributor cap, is to check the phasing of the spark as delivered inside the cap. I did this in my marine 302 distributor and was appalled at how far past the #1 cap lug, the module fired. I had to revamp the whole mounting position of the module to get the rotor to to fire right adjacent to the proper cylinder terminal/lug.

I have a source that might get you the best price you'll find for a Pertronix II and a matching coil. PM me if you are interested, I will give you his email.

Go for it. The Pertronix set up is a great upgrade and investment. You will not regret it
