Are you adding the Tach to a car that didn't originally have a Tach?

The wiring harness is different for Tach cars.

Here's a link to an article I scanned from Mustang Monthly on adding a Tach to a '67/'68 Non-Tach car.

What's different about the Mallory coil, other than higher voltage output? Doesn't the Mallory Ignition Module still use 12V from the primary side of the coil? Have you tried asking Mallory?

Does your Mustang have a '67 Tach Wiring Harness or not?

I'm reading your last post as "Non-Tach" wiring harness.

Since the Mallory coil is actually a step up transformer with the same primary voltage as a stock coil, I don't see why you can't follow the steps for installing a Tach in the Mustang Monthly article I posted. The High Voltage from the Mallory coil only goes to the spark plugs via the distributer.

Yes non tach, I hooked it up that way no luck. I ordered a tach adapter by mallory it said it will help the tach read the square wave signal sent by the mallory box, the following is the article about the tach adapter thanks Nick

This tach adapter is designed to work with OEM electronic ignitions bypassing the stock module and aftermarket 2-wire magnetic pickup with an ignition box that has a tach output terminal. Also compatible with points, OEM electronic ignitions using the stock module, Unilite, and stand alone aftermarket magnetic trigger ignitions

I was assuming you were installing a stock '67 Tach in a Mustang with a stock Non-Tach wiring harness.

I'm sorry, but I don't think I can help you on this one.

Do you know for sure that the '67 Tach actually works?
