Default Radio Suppression Condensor 65 6-cyl

I know that the radio suppression condenser attaches to a lead to the alternator on my car. Someone recently pointed out to me an un-used lead on my voltage regulator and said that a radio suppression condenser can also be attached there too, adding that this was an earlier set up that Ford later discarded. Checking my 65 electrical manual last night I found that there were in fact, two different condensers for this purpose. The one for the VR was a C3 number and the one for the alternator was a C5 (don't have the complete numbers with me right now). Does anyone know where these condensers can be purchased? Or, are they one of those things that I'll be searching for at the car show flea markets this Spring?

Thanks in advance.

They are sold next to the dinosaur eggs in the grocery store!

Read words from several of us about them here: http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...-cylinder.html

Your car had one when new if the car came with a radio, maybe even if it didn't. When they were discontinued I do not know.

A swap meet, e-Bay or an original car are about the only place you will find one of these jewels.

Thanks. Nowadays, it seems like all the little things I need for my car are hard to find.

But that's part of the fun, right?

The condenser at the alternator was on the '65 schematic but was discontinued by 1966. That same lead then was labeled as an 'Alternator test lead'. My take is they didn't want to change the wiring harness and had to give the empty plug a name. The one at the regulator was still there probably into and through the 70s when everyone realized they didn't really do much of anything.

I think when cars had generators that the radio suppressors were more important. There are no brushes spewing sparks about inside and alternator so they generate less RF noise.

I decided I really need to have the carpet installed before I start cutting. I have everything I need - except the time. Too many alligators in the swamp.
