Default 1965 Mustang Heater box assy?

Thought it was about time to reassemble my heater box after I literally stripped everything off and out of it and had all the pieces powder painted.

I opened the trunk, hauled out the various boxes and was shocked to see, via invoices, etc, that I had torn it apart back in 1995. I even paid $190 for a new sealed heater motor from Ford as the Napa stuff was not suitable for the '65.

Point being, I'm gonna need some assistance as to what goes where. I'll ask the questions as they come up. I've got a new gasket seal set ordered from ?CLPony but I can start in some of the other areas, to re-rivet and reassemble.

Two areas first: I assume that I am going to have to use black pop rivets to re-attach all the brackets and such that I pulled off the case. This I will do unless someone has any better ideas.

Second question relates to the front door and brackets. Maybe someone could look closely at theirs and tell me this: I have to rivit the triangular hinge brackets back to the top and bottom of the front case half. It appears the the ears on the door fit inside these brackets?? What else can you see between the door pivot ears and the fixed triangular hinge brackets? In my little door parts bag I have two little concave washers plus one tension? type washer that has 4 little slots around the outside edge. I don't know if there should be two of these or if maybe it does not even go with the door/hinge assy.

Lastly, actually a third item, I assume the handle on the front of the door is supposed to rotate 90 deg? It was not something that I could take off the door for powder painting so it is kind of painted in place. If it rotates, as I think it must, I will have to carefully break it free from the paint.

Thanks for your help.

btw, I undertook all this due to a heater core leak and then subsequently found that all the box parts were compromisingly rusty.

Hey neighbor.

Give me a holler and we can look at one of my mustangs to see what goes where. I'll be pulling the heater box out of our 66 coupe pretty soon so I can install top hats in the fresh air intakes.
