Default 351w engine build help

I know this is probably on here a million times so please bare with me and help out thanks.. I have a little car knowledge but to start from scratch is beyond me...

I have a 68 mustang which currently has an inline 6 with a 3 speed transmission (does that make it a C4?). I have a 351w crate motor that I'm looking to build and put in the car.. I'm looking to have the car street drivable but have some go to it so hopefully 350hp or more if possible to give it that go... So looking for some help with parts advice as far as which parts to go with i.e. Intake manifold, gearing specs, carb and can I still use the tranny I have now? thanks...

motor has stock 351w heads...

The C4 is a 3 speed automatic transmission. It was usually coupled behind the inline 6 and a more beefy version was installed behind the V8 289 and 302 engines.

As for building the engine, this would depend on the funds that are available and who and where it's going to be built. I recommend that you pick up copies of "Mustang Monthly" and "Modified Mustangs and Fords" magazines to familiarize yourself with the market. There are several books in print that are dedicated to building high performance Windsor engines. Gain some knowledge before someone tries to convince you of something that could lead to an expensive disappointment. The books and magazines are available from most popular book stores.

Welcome to the forum.
