Default Anyone tried the Eastwood Fuel tank sealer kit?

The gas tank on my 66 has some rust inside, it is not real bad but I would like to clean it up. I checked with local radiator shops and they all want $80.00 and up to boil the tank out.

Or, I can buy a new tank for $121.00 with shipping, not sure what the level of quality would be.

I saw this Eastwood kit, and wondered if it works.

I have a original '66 tank, perfect inside, some minor surface rust on the outside. I replaced it with a new Canadian one from VCM. As far as I can tell the VCM tank for $100 (plus shipping) is absolutely original. I wouldn't waste my time with trying to fix mine or yours for that kind of price difference. Same overall weight, same metal thickness, same stamping detail. The sender lock ring is not as good - use your old one. The mating flanges for the sender on the tank are as original; the lock ring that comes with the new tank is inferior.

Virginia Classic, yes I buy from them.
Shipping to AZ should be expensive, but I will call them.
I hate to waste useable parts.

Boiling out the tank won't get rid of the rust anyway. Rusting is a pit in the steel surface, so the metal is that much thinner where the rust is. Rust doesn't go away unless you grind/blast it off and you'll be reducing the thickness of the metal there. I'd go with a new tank.

I got a new tank as part of a 25 item order; shipping to NM was $45. I doubt its any different to AZ.

Default for the $$$

for the money and headache -
get a new tank with a drain plug -
you should be able to find a local shop that can sell you one so you don't have to pay shipping.

I live in Tucson and there is nothing much here for parts- nothing much here at all actually.
I found the tank at 3 vendor, 125.00 shipped, has drain plug.

Shame to waste the old one but the rust will only come back.
