Default why am I not getting power to starter

Rookie here I have a 67 with a 289. Trying to figure out why I am not getting power to starter to fire car up. Battery is good, new solenoid. I have power to coil and the right side of front post on solenoid(brown wire). Am I missing some other connection from the switch to make the complete circuit?

could my solenoid not be grounded, does it need to be tight to fender

Have you tried to jump across the starter solenoid, to see if the starter turns or not?

yes it does turn when I jump across, I am now thinking I am a idiot...the solenoid my not be grounded to fender therefore not completing the circuit

This is common issue, unbolt the solenoid and scuff up the paint behind where it mounts a little bit and bolt it back down.

Are you sure you have everything connected up correctly?

What was the reason for changing the solenoid? Was the car running fine, then it just wouldn't crank over or are you getting it going for the first time?

It is a restro project, engine fine before I pulled to paint engine compartment and I completely to out wiring also. I believe I have everything hooked up right..but your right I could have a wire that is not connected under dash. But I am thinking it is the solenoid not grounded to fender
