If you shove a screw drive between the posts with the starter turn?

Could be a bad solenoid
Could be a bad starter
Could be a bad switch

You'll need a multi meter to track down where you are losing voltage.

Check and make sure the brown wire is on the right or "I" side of the relay and the red is on the left of "S" side. When you turn your key, there should be power to the red wire at the relay. If not, I would say your switch is bad.

that could be the issue, I am getting power on the brown wire at the solenoid but not the red. It is hooked up just like you said at the solenoid. red on left brown on right. when i turn key to on brown wire is hot at solenoid but not red.

I had same problem with my '67 Stroker Stang and it was my "Ballistor Resistor". A less than $5.00 solution!!!!

You might want to just try putting another new solenoid on there, sometimes the new ones don't even work right out of the box.
