Default New guy question

Ok...i'm looking into purchasing a 65ish convertible and I have some questions.

As far as performance, how much can the convertible handle? Is there some aftermarket x-bars or something that can be added to the convertible to beef it up or is it already done...

My hope was to build a 289 for it and then add a paxton supercharger when money allowed. i read an article online where a guy had done this...he got 318 rear wheel hp with the NA 289 and after the supercharger at i beieve 5 lbs boost...447 or some such thing...im thinking that would twist up the convertible?? thoughts on how to make this work?? Also what kind of rear end/tranny would be needed for this much power?

Thanks!

I know several people running Paxton's on their convertibles. I was able to get some nice subframe connectors for my 65 from Mustang Country Int. the are located in Paramont Ca

With running that many horses thru the drive train I would look into a 9inch rear end, the stock one just wont last long.

Thanks for the reply! Interstingly, I got on the paxton website and they don't list superchargers for any older mustangs. I hope this doesn't mean they stopped making them
