Default After driving for a while @ night my headlights & dash lights off then come back on

Can anyone please help me on this? After a while when driving at night sometimes my dash lights will go out then come back on.Then my head lights will go off and come back on(on dimms). The head lights seem to go out faster when i turn my brights on.I'v replaced the voltage regulator (this fixed my pulsing lights)and i have a new dimmer switch(not yet installed). Will the dimmer switch fix this?I also thought about my headlight switch. What do you guys think?Sorry for the long post. The car is a 69'Mach1.Thanks guys

if your radio does the same thing along with everything else (if you have one) it could be a bad alternator?

Hello. That is almost certainly the headlight switch. It has an internal circuit breaker that will trip, cool of and reset itself, then trip again. The greater the load, the quicker it will trip. Time for a new headlight switch. The part number for that is C9ZZ-11654-A, but, the new motorcraft number is SW-817. Yup, you can still get that from Ford.

Hi again. Yup, you can go to the parts department of any Ford dealership and buy this one. It's very simple to replace once you know how to get the knob shaft out.
The Care and Feeding of Ponies: Headlight switch replacement
This is how you replace it on a 65/66 car. It's much easier on a 69. You don't have to pull the instrument cluster out, for starters. You can reach up under the dash to push the release button on the knob. The reason that I put this link here is so that you can see where the little button is on the switch. You just push that in and pull the knob shaft all the way out of the switch. Sometimes you have to push that button pretty hard and kind of work the shaft back and forth, wiggle it some, all of that stuff, but, once you get that out, you unscrew that retainer thingy, pull the switch down where you can get to it, unplug the connector, and do what you just did backwards to put the new one in. You have to hold the release button in to get the knob shaft back in, also. Nothing to it.
