Question master cylinder and suspension questions

Well I am moving forward with my 65 coupe/convertible. My next task is to work on the brakes. Since I am not looking to get on this car I am planning on keeping my brakes pretty much stock, except for the master cylinder. I don't even like a single resevior on my 37 ford let alone on the Mustang so I want a dual. Is this a simple swap to the 67/68 or is there some other issue a better idea.

The second part is the suspension. Again generally stock but both front and back spring are shot. I want to get the car level or maybe slightly raked forward. All I see in the cateloges is one inch drop springs in the front. If I get these then should the rears be stock or can those have a one inch drop as well?

Thanks for all the help. Michael

If your rear springs are like mine and most other 65/66 Mustangs, they already sag more than inch anyway! I put coil helper springs on mine to restore it to original height, but since my car is not drivable yet I can't say whether these affect the ride or not.

As for the brakes, I don't know if the 67 & up master cylinder will bolt right up, maybe Twister or someone else knows. I would like to know the answer to that question, too. I just bought a used vacuum power booster so I can add power brakes to mine, but it is the vacuum power so it is made to use a single master cylinder too, so if someone out there knows a good upgrade for you, maybe it will work for me too.

Mike: this is what i did, i put heavy duty springs from mustangs unlimited in the back and their contour coils by traction master on the front (1"drop) . I also run two size tires, they are all 14's just different height.
gives a nice rake look to it. As for the the master cyl no problem, I personaly bought a cobra mstr cyl from a co. in the nrtheast. a little pricey but it's large and gives me what i need. hope this helps.

Can you tell me where you bought the master cylinder from; do they have a website?

try this site for braking: www.mpbrakes.com they were helpful to me with braking concerns on my '68.

I installed a pair of 1" drop springs, after they settled they actually dropped the car more like 2", but it sits even and at a nice height, and I left the rear springs alone. The rear springs are relatively new, and I do not have helpers or long shackles.

Hello.A M/C that will work for your car would also be readily available at any major auto parts store. The dual reservoir unit from a 71 mustang is a popular choice. There are a couple of dozen dual reservoir M/Cs that will work.If you replace just the front coil springs your car will probably sit a little high in the front. There are shortened front coils available that will take care of that.Hope that helps.

So a dual master cylinder from a 67 to 73 would bolt right up to my vacuum power booster? Schweeet! Thanks for the info.
