Default 1972 Mustang Fastback what tire size looks best?

I have just finished restoring a '72 fastback. I am considering a 15x7" Magnum 500 wheel and I would like to find a tire size that fills the fender wells for a good appearance. I presently have 225/60R14 on the car and they look like roller skate wheels. I would appreciate any suggestions as to a practical tire size that would look better. The car is standard ride hieght, not lowered.

I think a 235 tire is about wide as a tire you can go on a 7'' wide wheel, so maybe get 15x8 if you want to stick with 15'' size and then go with 245 tires.

on my 71 mach I have 235-60-15 on magnum 500 15 x 7 which has no fitment problems and fills up the wheel wells and is plenty wide enough for me. You may have wheel rub with 245 tires . The original stock tire was F60-15 which I think is the equivalent of 225-60-15 today.

Go with 15x8 and use 235-60-15 all over or 245-60-15 on front and 255-60-15 in back looks good with no fitment or clearance isseues at all.

+1 I agree, that is the size I would go. You can fit a good size tire on the back of the 71-73 Mustangs. Here is another good chart I use as well:

Default tires...

Right now on my '72
I am running on 15 75 225 on the back
and on the front 15 60 220 and I really
think that you would start to run into trouble gettin much bigger????:?:
