I would like to take out my windshield and rear window on my 1966 coupe. Can anyone tell me what is the best tool to use and the technique to remove them without breaking the glass or chrome.

windshield glass removal

I know there is a tool for it. What I did is first, pop the chrome trim off and then get a razor knife and cut the rubber around the window. Cut about a half inch up until you see the glass edge and then cut all around the window and pull it straight out. I replaced the rubber for 20 dollars. I got some windshield sealer and then put them back in. If you want to know how to put them back in let me know. Hope this helped you. LOVE MY 66 red coupe. Joe

I've only done my rear window but I understand that the front comes out and goes in the same way. Texas has the right idea, I used a thin plastic pry bar to pop out the trim without damaging it, then cut the rubber gasket with a razor knife. I then used the plastic tool to gently go around the top of the window to free it up and then you simply tip it out. You'll want at least one helper but two are better. Make sure you get a new gasket, sealant, and trim clips before you put it back in.

Yeah, you don't really need any special tools. I removed mine by myself and I just pulled the trim straight off. There are only a few clips.

Just take your time and cut through the rubber gasket and the windshield should just pop straight out.

I used a small flat screw driver that I had bent previously to remove the trim and that worked out great, just take your time.
To remove the windshield I did exactly what Nolan and Texas said.
