Default Emergency Brake

I took the emergency brake off of my 66 mustang a long time ago and I am now trying to order the parts to put it back together. What parts do I need from the handle to the rear end? How does it all connect?

Tough question, i think you better get a shop or restorers manual.

The assembly consists of the following parts:

1. Handle assembly
2. Sheath
3. Pawl and spring
4. Wheel and axle pin with cotter
5. Cable

The handle (1) is inserted into the sheath (2). The pawl and spring is fitted into the slot in the sheath. When properly installed the spring holds tension on the pawl so that it rides on the handle shaft. If the handle is upright, pulling it out will cause the pawl to rachet. Pushing forward causes the handle to lock so it won't go inward. Rotating the handle 90 degrees moves the rack on the handle shaft to be 90 degrees to the pawl and thus permits the handle to be moved inward.

Move the assembly near its mounting position in the car then rotate the handle until the far end of the handle exposes the cable swage ball retainer cup. Assuming the cable is installed in the car, bring the end of the cable (swage ball) and pop it in the cup at the end of the shaft. Rotate the handle to lock the swage ball and cable to the handle. Install the wheel and axle pin to retain the assembly then mount it at the firewall and lower edge of the dash. Connect the opposite end of the cable to the e-brake lever arm. Adjust the e-brake according to the shop manual.
