Question Replacing bushings on sway bar?

I know I am doing to much work on my 65 coupe/convertible but the sway bar bushing need replacing. After getting the existing ones off, which isn't easy, how the .... do you get the polyurethane to slide on. They supply a packet of some white stuff, but before I start I need expert opinion on how these go on.

Thanks

when i bought my new swaybar, the bushings had a slit in them so i could slip them over the bar.
Is the white stuff just a packing salt? otherwise i would have no idea what it would be...

the white stuff might be tephlon to keep it from squeeking, as for the end links, be sure to put them in when the car is level and the springs have weight on them

The white stuff is a type of grease I assume to make them go on easier. The problem is it is reasonably cold hear and prying them apart sufficiently to go on the bar seems to be difficult. I am wondering if heating them up some will provide more flex to get them onto the bar easier.

Thanks for all the help.

Michael
