Default Edelbrock intake question. (dumb question)

I am putting back together a 65 coupe w/ a 302 w/ an Edelbrock Performer intake. This is gonna sound idiotic but, What are the 1/2" threaded holes facing upward on the 4 corners of the manifold for?

Thanks

There should be one on top behind the T-stat housing for your heater hose fitting. The one on the driver side front is for the coolant temp sender.

The ones in the rear are most likely holes in the runners and are for vacuum fittings. What you don't use back there needs to be plugged.

The "extra hole" in the t-stat housing is for the by-pass hose. That's a very short L-shaped hose that connects to the upper fitting on the water pump.

Only one of the heater hoses goes to the water pump. The other end of that hose connects to the heater core fitting at the fire wall.

Here's a pic from the '65 Shop Manual:

I'm running a Stealth intake and using a different hose setup or I'd snap a pic for you. Don't want to confuse the issue further.

How do you like that stealth manifold ? I'm building a setup close to what your running , and Thats the intake I'm checking out . Would you reccommend it ? I'm either going with that or the x-celerator . How well did it match the intake ports of the 185s ? Those are the same heads I have . Thanks , and sorry for the thread jacking

Fordgazm:

The Stealth works great. This is my first one but most all of the input I got on it indicated a bit higher top end than Edelbrock RPM/Air Gap. Probably a couple hundred rpm.

I didn't touch the ports on the heads or intake. Everything lined up perfect on my block/heads/intake (block was decked and squared). The intake ports may have been 1/32" smaller than the ports on the heads, but not enough to mess with.

I also utilized the rear coolant cross-over that the Stealth has to clean up my heater hose routing.

THANKS MUSTANG JOE.

So if I am running without a heater I would Run from bottom waterpump hole to in front of carb and from bypass by thermostat to to top waterpump hole?

There are 2 ways that could be read . I'm not being stupid here , but if you are asking if the water pump should be routed THROUGH the carb , then that is a big no . I'm sure you meant the other way , I just figured if you did'nt then I would stop you from ruining your stuff .

I'd take that Performer intake back and get a Performer RPM if you still have the receipt. There's a $20 difference and the quality and performance difference between the 2 intakes is uncanny. The Performer line is junk.
