Default Radiator hose?

I have a 302 in my 65 coupe. My waterpump exits on the passenger side but my lower radiator connection is on the drivers side.

This seems like it may be a pretty hairy lookin hose. i don't have the old one because this is a complete restoration/restomod in proccess.

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks

Frank

There is no correct cause the motor is a 1970 and the car is modded heavily. This is a custom. just looking for a " flexible" billet style hose...

Can't help with the rad hose, but just wondering if you had considered changing to a water pump with the inlet on the left (driver) side. Depending upon your accessories this may be a better solution than looking for a long bottom rad hose. Interestingly a 70's engine should have the water pmp inlet on the drivers side, while the stock 65 radiator had its bottom connection on the passenger (left) side. Yours seem to be reversed for both the water pump & rad .

yeah kinda backwards. cant change the waterpump. spent too much time and money geting the billet pulleys to line up. went serpentine. I think summit racing has various lenghts of stainless flexible hose. I'll check it out.

Any other comments or help is appreciated..

Have you talked to a radiator shop to see if they have a lower tank with the radiator hose fitting on the same side as the water pump? Just keep the fins and change the lower portion of the radiator.

I have the same problem on my 68 coupe with 72 302, but waterpump bottom hose connection is on the drivers side while the radiator bottom hose is on the passenger side. I think the 65-early 69 both water pump's lower comnnection was on the passenger side, while 69 - 70's were on the driver's side. Although I haven't fixed mine yet, I believe the water pumps are interchangable and/or you can find a radiator to fit with a bottom outlet on either side. Check NPD catalog.

Personnally I would change one or the other and since you had issues with the waterpump I would change the radiator.

I would be hesitant on using a long flexible hose on the inlet side (bottom) due to the greater possibility of the hose collapsing. As the RPMs increase so does the suction on that hose and you could have intermittent problems of the engine running hot or overheating.

That sounds like the most logical thing to do, and they should be able to do it for you for less than 100 bucks, probably even cheaper.

I had a similar problem with a 56 Packard that I put a Pontiac engine in. The lower hose fitting was on the opposite side from the radiator. I took it to a radiator shop, and for $35 they switched the lower hose fitting on the radiator from one side to the other. I will shortly be doing the same thing with a 49 International that now has a 302 and a T5.

I agree, the best solution would be to fix the rad or get a new one. That would be the easiest and probably cheapest way to make things work too.
