Default Autolite 1100 carb

Does anybody have carburetor info on a 65 with the autolite 1100 .
I'm looking to swap this piece of junk . I've read a few stories about a holley swap carb number 1946 . But the parts people have no idea what I'm looking for , if any body has any info on this let me know . I'm at my wits end .

Thanks

I've got one on my 67 and I rebuilt it and the car runs much better. I'm bettin this thing would be just as good as an engine with EFI if I'd rebuilt the whole motor. Pickup a rebuild kit for $20 and trust me, it makes a world of difference.

Autolite. Rebuild the motor for best performance. My car sat for around probably 3-4 months if not longer without being started, I turned the key twice and it fired the second time. A little faith, knowledge, and work will go a long way.

Gotcha ya , this car sat for 4 years , so far I have pulled the tank had it acid washed , new sending unit , fuel pump , and cleaned the fuel system , bought the autolite 1100 carb from a classic mustang supplier .
It ran good for about a week , then started stalling and sputtering upon acceleration . Then I rebuilt it . ran good for another 10 days and now has started doing the same sputter and stalling all over again .I am at my wits end right now .

Thanks

Did you put a filter in before the carb ? You may be getting contamination in the bowls causing it to run like that . . You dont need to rebuild a motor because your carb dont work right .

No it only has a pertronix coil , wires & pointless ignition , everything else is stock.

Thanks

I'm not sayin he has to rebuild the motor, I'm sayin that if it is runnin bad though that a rebuild will help. As far as your carb problem is going, perhaps something is loose. Also, did you do all the settings for your float and what not?

I have a 160 psi compression , motor not quite tired yet but it is getting there. The Autolite I have had to rebuild twice and after each rebuild the car ran great for a week to 10 days then starts falling on its face .
I'm starting to think that the Clifford Performance Package with a new 2 barrel carb and with a new header just may do the trick . But if anybody has any other ideas I would love to hear them .

Thanks

Just a shot in the dark, but did your rebuilds include new floats? If not, maybe your old one is saturated and while you rebuild it drys out enough to work for while. My first thought was fuel contamination but you seem to have cleaned the fuel system, but an extra filter between the pump & carb wouldn't hurt. Good luck.

Yeah, I'm kinda clueless here man, that's kinda odd that it would do that.

I dont know when I purchased the carb if they had replaced the float or not. But on my 2 rebuilds I have not . But this idea seems logical seeing that there may be a pin hole leak in the float , thats why when I rebuild it that it runs great for the first week or so .This will be the 3RD rebuild on this carb and I will let you know what happens .

Thanks for all the help

If the problem occurs during acceleration, look at the accelerator pumps on the carb, even if you just rebuilt it, they could be leaking. I had the problem with my falcon. It would just flat die after stepping on it, mainly in intersections. So if opened the hood and watched through the bap when I gave it gas and they shot streams of gas about four two feet in either direction.
