Welcome to AFM :)

Tbirdtony gave you the best site for wiring diagrams. You can also find it at the top of the Classic Tech page thanks to Mr. Frisch. Click on the link and then click on 66 Pictorial for "Lighting" and it will give you a pretty good idea how things go.

I hope you bought your harness from a Mustang Supplier like NPD, CJ's, MU etc. If so, they are color coded correctly so you can follow the wiring diagrams. The connectors are also the proper ones so everything should plug right in. As a suggestion, pick yourself up a wiring retainer kit for less than $10. Any Mustang supplier will have it. I'm going to give you the link for NPD just for illustration purposes. Look up part #13000-1K wiring retainers. While you're at it, check out part #14603-1K & 2K. These are grommets that you will need to keep the sharp metal from cutting your new harness.

I like to lay the harness out in the driveway with the firewall plug on top. Then spread it out and become familiar with the various branchoffs and plugs using the wiring diagram. Once you have it figured out, disconnect your battery, connect the plug at the firewall and start routing the wires. I've given you some pics for reference from my 65. It should be the same for your 66.

1st pic is routing from the firewall, along the apron, to the front. 2nd pic shows where the headlight & parking light plugs enter the apron. Then the lower entry point under the radiator. 3rd pic shows inside the headlight bucket area. 4th shows the retainer clip fastening points under the cross support. 5th shows the harness as it exits the bottom and goes up to the junction block.

Hope that gives you some type of idea how this goes. If you need help, say so. Good Luck. :winks

Joe,

That would all be pretty good info you gave there, except...

Do you realize that all the driveways in Illinois disappeared recently in what the weather service is calling a 'blizzard'. I doubt there will be any 'laying out in driveways' for quite a few days. :) Even here in sunny NM we have 8" and still snowing.

Ooops :blushed

You're right Gary. I forgot about the tuff weather stuff most everyone is going thru this winter.
