1967 Heater hose routing

Getting close to firing up the engine and I want to make sure I have my heater hoses routed correctly before filling the radiator. Its a 302 and the attached pic shows how I routed the hoses. There's a clamp on the right valve cover, inboard side that I'm guessing is for the heater core inlet hose. The outlet hose from the firewall back to the water pump hooks onto a bracket on the choke housing. I've seen other mustangs with both hoses routed around the valve cover, towards the shock tower then to the firewall. Is there a reason for routing it that way? The way I have it, the inlet hose is touching the valve cover. Does the valve cover get hot enough to possibly melt the heater hose? Am I okay with the way I've routed it?

The clip to the choke is stock, it helps heat up the choke as the car warms up. The valve cover won't get hot enough to melt the hose but the hose will rub a spot intothe valve cover removing the paint and making and indention into the vc, my original did this. Many people change carb/intake and route the hoses away since they don't use the choke clip and just want their intake area cleaner looking.
