Question 68' Rear Quarter Moldings?

I just bought a 68' Coupe about a month ago (see attached photo) and I'm replacing a few exterior pieces--moldings and emblems. What's the best way to remove and replace rear quarter moldings? There's a little slot on the top where I can see the nut on the back, but what about the bottom fastner? Also, what's the best way to remove the "Mustang" script and Pony emblem on the front quarters? Wrap string and pull? Thanks in advance for all replies.

I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say rear quarter molding, but with the Mustang emblem, I used a screwdriver on mine. Slid it in and wiggled it out and pryed on it. Probably not the best way. I would stick something soft like a piece of a paper towel or a rag over the end of the screwdriver as to not scratch the paint. I never figured out how they got the emblems on there with the rivets like that and everything so no help puttin new ones on

to get to the quater panel ornaments, remove the back seat, and the interrior quarter panel trim. You can access them from inside.

As for the emblems, use a small, flatblade screwdriver wrapped in a rag, and gently twist. Take an awl and use it to push the barrel clips out. Place the new barrel clips into the holes, and use the butt of a screw driver to push them into place, then push the emblem into place.

Question

Thanks for the help. To clarify, the molding I am asking about is the rear quarter extension molding, the chrome piece on the back corners of the vehicle. Again, there's a slot on the top where I can see the nut, but how do you get to the bottom fastner to remove the molding?

1: Remove the rear bumper.
2: There are about 4 nuts on the interrior section of the trunk holding the qtr pnl extention to the panel, and one screw on the extrior.
3: The moulding is held in by 3 nuts that are easy to get to once the extention is off of the car.
