Question 302 roller cam/valve train

Hey guys Id like to say thanks for all of the help you have given me...I hope one day I can assist you all. Anyway I was looking into upgrading the valve train on my 302 motor(mid 70's) and have some ?'s. I have been looking at roller setups but have only the slightest idea as to what is needed. Edelbrock has the cam and roller lifters but not the roller rocker arms. Thats no big thing I guess, I can go to comp cams and get the rocker arms but im still not sure what ALL is needed. What I think I need is the roller tappet cam/lifters, valvesprings, and rocker arms, does that sound about right to you guys?also how hard is it to install the roller cam/valvetrain once I have all the parts? is there anything else I need to do to the block before the install( machining etc.?) any input will be great! Thanks again!

Roller rockers are not need for the roller camshaft, as you noted you can source roller rockers from any number of sources. The big problem will be that your block is not a roller block. Later 302/5.0 blocks have taller lifter bores to accomodate the roller lifters. With an older block you have two choices, fit reduced base (smaller diameter) cams or use conversions lifters. With small base cam you have a more limited selection, and you will also have to drill & tap your block for the spider retention system that will keep the lifters aligned. The conversions lifters have bars that join the ifters in pairs and keep them in alignment, but they are bloody expensive. Option 3 is to find a roller block, post 85 I believe. Oh with either system you will need new pushrods to allow the the change in lifter height. You'll have to measure once your have the lifters and rockers in place tio determine what length pushrods you'll need.
